The Opportunity
The Guest Services Hospitality Team leader (head cook) position is a full-time 12-month fixed-term contract. There is every opportunity to extend the 12-month contract for the right candidate.
It is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive person to oversee the successful day-to-day running of our Guest Services hospitality division.
In this fast-paced role, you will lead the Guest Services hospitality division to ensure all visitors receive exceptional service and quality products. Your key responsibilities will include:
- responsible for overseeing all aspects of the food and beverage division.
- Ensuring the day-to-day running of hospitality tasks is smooth and to an exceptional standard.
- Preparation of food and beverage products.
- Overseeing stock control and wastage minimisation strategies.
- Overseeing quality control of all food and beverage products.
- Overseeing menu preparation.
- Maintaining Food Safety Supervisor Certification as per council regulations.
- Ensuring hospitality service outlets are presented in a tidy, orderly, professional, well maintained, and stocked in an engaging manner.
- Ensuring excellent hygiene standards are maintained within relevant public areas and workstations.
- Ensuring visitors are proactively serviced with exceptional customer service.
- Overseeing training and guidance for guest services employees.
- Supporting the business culture and values.
- Ensuring proper cash handling protocol is strictly followed.
- Providing first aid.
Annual salary commensurate with experience.
Requirements
- Symbio Wildlife Park is a 7 day a week operation, we require someone who can commit to a weekly Sunday to Thursday roster OR Tuesday to Saturday roster.
- Our busiest trade periods are public holidays and school holiday periods – this is where we require our strongest teams! Rosters will include working public holidays that fall within the roster (with the exception of Christmas Day).
- Hours may range between the hours of 7.30 am and 5.30 pm (for example 8am – 4pm, 9am – 5pm etc)
About you
To be successful in this position you will be a hands-on leader who is passionate about delivering outstanding customer experience and quality in food and beverage products. In addition, you will have:
- Proven experience in leading a customer service team in a fast-paced environment.
- An ability to maintain high standards in peak trade.
- Excellent standards in food preparation.
- Barista experience is essential.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Confidence, drive, enthusiasm, and hard work ethics.
- An ability to work Sundays – Thursdays OR Tuesdays to Saturdays.
- Availability to work public holidays which fall within your roster.
- An understanding that school holidays are the peak trade periods for SWP, and have a willingness to plan for annual leave outside of school holiday periods.
- A current Food Handling Certificate.
- A current First Aid and Resuscitation Certificate (or willing to quickly obtain).

It is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive person to oversee the successful day-to-day running of our retail and admission divisions.
In this fast-paced role, you will lead the Guest Services retail and admission teams to ensure all visitors receive exceptional and proactive service. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring the day-to-day running of retail and admissions tasks is smooth and to an exceptional standard.
- Overseeing stock control.
- Ensuring service outlets are presented in a tidy, orderly, professional, well maintained, and stocked in an engaging manner.
- Ensuring visitors are proactively serviced with exceptional customer service.
- Meeting sales and upselling targets.
- Overseeing training and guidance for guest services employees.
- Support guest services administration requirements.
- Supporting the business culture and values.
- Ensuring proper cash handling protocol is strictly followed.
- Providing first aid.

- Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
- An ability to work Sundays – Thursdays OR Tuesdays to Saturdays.
- Availability to work public holidays which fall within your roster.
- An understanding that school holidays are the peak trade periods for SWP, and have a willingness to plan for annual leave outside of school holiday periods.
- A current First Aid and Resuscitation Certificate (or willing to quickly obtain)

Work within our dynamic parks & gardens team to help keep our gardens and enclosures beautiful.
In this fast-paced and physical role, your duties will include, but be far from limited to; General grounds & horticulture maintenance; inc. weeding, mowing, landscaping, browse (leaf) cutting, raking, cleaning, waste & water management, koala plantation maintenance.
The ideal candidate will be not afraid of hard work, have machinery and horticulture experience, shows initiative whilst being able to follow direction, and looking for a long-term role where they grow as we do.
